Thank you to the group admin and all members for your selfless feedback! This summer’s Bali trip was a joy for the whole family, especially for the kids—it was a wonderful memory full of adventure and laughter.
Bottom line: For a 7-day, 6-night family trip, we highly recommend staying at The Dusun Villa in Seminyak (near Jalan Kayu Aya Street). It was our first time bringing the kids to a villa, and the experience earned high marks. It’s perfect for families who want kids to play in a spacious private space while adults can also relax.
Travel dates: June 28 – July 4
Accommodation
We chose two fantastic villas this time. It was our first time staying in a villa as a family, and the kids were thrilled and fascinated by this new accommodation experience.
Accommodation in Seminyak
We stayed at The Dusun Villa, which boasts a great location near Jalan Kayu Aya Street.
The pool is both clean and spacious, and the villa offers a golf cart booking service to reach Seminyak Square, which is very convenient for families with children. The villa’s interior is elegantly designed and comfortable, featuring a spacious living room and an outdoor dining area. Kids can play freely in the garden while parents enjoy a relaxing time.

Ubud Accommodation
We stayed at Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana.
Here you can book a Kecak Dance performance without having to jostle through the crowds. The stay also includes a generous afternoon tea and breakfast. The resort has a relaxed atmosphere, and the staff are warm and friendly, especially toward children. Set amidst rice paddies and lotus ponds, the scenery is breathtaking, making you feel as if you’ve stepped into a paradise.

Tips
- Pre-trip tipping culture insights:
-
- Daily driver tip: 50,000–100,000 IDR
- Luggage: 10,000–50,000 IDR (about USD$1–2)
- Housekeeping/restaurant: 10,000–20,000 IDR (about USD$1–1)
- Massage: tip 10% upfront
- “KEEP THE CHANGE”: No need for change; locals rarely have change for amounts under 10,000 IDR.
- Daily driver tip: 50,000–100,000 IDR
- Villa accommodation tip: If you have kids who love water, I highly recommend staying in a villa. You can ask your driver to rent a large inflatable float from local vendors, or book one through Klook—the kids will have a blast.

- Transport tip: July and August are peak season, and traffic often gets heavy after 11:30 AM. I recommend scheduling no more than 2–3 attractions per day to keep things manageable.
- Nusa Penida experience: The roads are bumpy, but the kids treated it like a bumper car ride and had a blast. Since our children are all in elementary school, we skipped the snorkeling, but even just the west coast day trip was well worth it.
Bali’s local culture and charm are truly captivating—whether it’s the temples, water activities, or natural scenery, everything has a unique appeal. This journey gave us a deeper understanding and appreciation of Bali, and we can’t wait to visit again!
