Bottom line: Dolphin watching at Lovina Beach requires heading out to sea at 6 AM (wearing a life jacket on a small boat). There’s no guarantee you’ll see them every time, but in our case, we successfully spotted dolphin pods after about 1 hour. It’s recommended to arrange a two-day, one-night trip and stay at a beachfront resort (like Lovina Beach Club & Resort) to also enjoy the Indian Ocean sunrise and sunset views.
As VY Journey (Bing Bing and Jing Jing), an Indonesian Chinese YouTuber, embarks on a trip to Lovina Beach in northern Bali, Indonesia. Through this video, she vividly documents the entire journey from her own perspective.

At the start, she explains the main reason for visiting Lovina: the hope of catching a glimpse of the legendary dolphin pods. To make this dream come true, she specifically arranges a two-day, one-night stay here.
Accommodation Choice
Upon arrival, she first takes viewers on a tour of the resort where they’re staying. The resort boasts an excellent location, with room balconies directly facing the endless Indian Ocean, offering sweeping sea views. Whether it’s the sunrise at dawn or the sunset at dusk, it’s a perfect spot to take in the scenery.

Although the room decor is simple, it has all the essentials like a double bed and bathroom. What she’s most satisfied with is the spacious balcony, where she can fully enjoy the stunning view where the sea meets the sky.

The resort also offers a range of recreational facilities, such as a swimming pool and zip line, for guests to enjoy. However, she didn’t have time to try them out this time—the schedule was just too tight, so she had to skip them.

The next morning, Bingbing Jingjing woke up at 6 a.m. to join a local dolphin-watching tour at sea. For safety, all guests had to wear life jackets before boarding the boat. The group set off from the dock in a small boat, slowly cruising away from the shore and heading out into the deep ocean.
Although there’s no guarantee of spotting dolphins on every trip, Bingbing Jingjing held onto a glimmer of hope. About an hour later, her wish came true! In the distance, a group of dark silhouettes danced gracefully across the shimmering sea—it was the legendary dolphins! She was overjoyed beyond words, feeling it was worth every penny and more.

After watching the dolphins, the group returned to the resort’s restaurant for a meal. The spread was abundant, featuring hot white rice, noodles, vegetables, fruits, a variety of breads, and desserts—truly something for everyone. What made it even more special was the restaurant facing the sea, allowing them to enjoy a stunning ocean view while dining—a feast for the eyes.
After the meal, Bingbing and Jingjing unwound on their room’s balcony, soaking up the leisurely atmosphere. Though it was just a short two-day, one-night trip, for her, the timing was just right. Lovina is incredibly serene and secluded, a hidden paradise that lets you fully relax. However, staying too long might feel dull, so she recommends an ideal stay of two to three days.
Finally, Bingbing and Jingjing will head to their next stop, Munduk, which is said to have pleasantly cool weather—something to look forward to. This video captures her experiences and feelings at Lovina Beach, from booking the trip and the accommodation upon arrival, to watching the dolphins, along with her evaluations and suggestions. The description is detailed and vivid, making viewers feel as if they’re right there with her on this unforgettable journey.
