Bottom line: For an overnight stay at Bali Safari, the best choice is a room near the animal feeding area (like the KIFARA family room, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a living room). The key isn’t whether the room balcony offers direct animal views, but that it’s just about 60 seconds to the feeding area by the pool. The hotel provides carrots for guests to feed elephants, zebras, and other animals up close—that’s the true highlight of the overnight experience.

Between me and the animals, there was only a carrot’s distance.
Staying overnight at Bali Safari was so much fun!
To ensure comfort, I chose the spacious ‘KIFARA Family Room’ (with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a living room)

Although I couldn’t see animals directly from the room balcony, it was very close to the pool. With a basket of carrots provided by the hotel, it took just 60 seconds to walk to the feeding area by the pool.

Gently sway a carrot, and the zebras in the distance will amble over. Feeding them is free for hotel guests, but those who purchase a standard ‘Bali Safari’ entry ticket must pay extra to ride the little cart for zebra feeding.

While swimming, you might spot an on-duty elephant carrying ‘Bali Safari’ guests on its back, heading your way (the elephant ride also costs extra). The complimentary fruit basket (apples, mangoes, bananas) given to hotel guests makes a perfect gift for your elephant friends.
The ‘Bali Safari’ park also offers a ‘Night Safari’ experience, which includes a buffet dinner. You can enjoy the show while dining outdoors, and hotel guests can watch it for free.
After dinner, you board a caged vehicle for a tour where the animals watch you. We skipped this due to exhaustion, but if you’re interested, book a package that includes ‘Night Safari’—it saves a lot.
The only restaurant at Mara River Safari Lodge, ‘Tsavo Lion Restaurant,’ has windows where majestic lions pace back and forth. Watching them watch me eat breakfast was utterly adorable (melting). Hotel guests enjoy free breakfast here, while non-guests must pay extra to enter.
During our stay, we had dinner (paid) and breakfast (free) at ‘Tsavo Lion Restaurant.’ The lions were very active at night but slept through the morning.
Another perk (I can’t stop raving about how satisfied I am): exclusive hotel guest encounters where animals are brought right to you at set times for photos and petting.
At breakfast (8:00 AM), a chameleon (?) came to the restaurant to keep us company. After eating (9:00 AM), we met an elephant in the small garden by the hotel entrance for an intimate encounter—no queuing, pure joy.

Plus, hotel guests enjoy free unlimited access to the ‘Bali Safari’ park for two days (check-in and check-out day). Between animal shows, you can even head back to your room for a quick nap—super relaxing.
The ‘Bali Safari’ park isn’t huge; a ride on the air-conditioned Safari Bus (Safari Journey) lets you see most of the animals, and the rest is filled with spectacular animal shows.
These are all well worth adding to your itinerary:
Check-in day :
1400-1500 Elephant bath (get up close to watch elephants bathing)
1600-1615 Animal Show – a must-see (small animals come from all directions, absolutely adorable)
1630-1650 Elephant Show (a performance woven with historical stories)
Check-out day :
0900-1000 Elephant Encounter Mara (elephants personally stand guard at the hotel entrance)
1115-1135 Big Cat Show – a must-see (tigers climb trees, tigers swim in the water, very entertaining)
Beyond the above, the park also has a freshwater aquarium, a water park, and a land park, but none are particularly appealing, so feel free to skip them.
For non-Indonesian visitors, the ticket prices for Bali Safari are far from friendly. If time allows, consider staying overnight at the Mara River Safari Lodge inside Bali Safari instead. The package of accommodation plus tickets offers much better value than buying tickets alone. Mara River Safari Lodge :
