🌺 Solo Adventure in Bali for 8 Days - A Woman's Solo Travel Experience 🌺

Taking from the community, I want to give back. In March, I traveled solo to Bali for 8 days.

Bottom line: Bali is generally safe for solo female travelers. Just keep basic precautions—don’t get into strangers’ cars, avoid eye contact or conversation with roadside harassers. Most locals are friendly and welcoming. You can also pre-book airport transfers via Klook (drivers will patiently wait up to 2 hours), which greatly reduces solo travel anxiety.

Taking from the community, I want to give back. In March, I traveled solo to Bali for 8 days. Since there’s not much info online about women traveling solo in Bali, I’m here to share my itinerary and insights.

Actually, in Bali, you’ll see many foreign women traveling alone too. Based on my experience, as long as you keep basic precautions—like not getting into strangers’ cars and avoiding eye contact or conversation with men who harass women on the streets—most locals are warm, friendly, and safe.

Let me share my 8-day solo Bali itinerary:

March 17, Saturday

09:15-14:45 Arrived in Bali by flight. Pre-booked airport transfer via Klook; the driver waited patiently at the airport for 2 hours. After getting in the car, I asked the driver to take me to a money changer first, so I went straight to BMC Money Changer. Then headed to my accommodation for the night, The Eight Resort.

Stopped by a nearby supermarket to pick up mosquito repellent, travel adapters, sunglasses, and summer swimwear. Bought a set of summer swimwear at niconico swimwear. The staff there were friendly and not pushy, with a great variety of styles.

Sunday, March 18

10:30 AM - 4:30 PM: One Eighty. The facilities are great, the views are stunning, and the food is top-notch. I recommend getting the VIP package and staying for 6 hours.

5:30 PM Arrived at The Blue Point Beach. Check the tides before heading out—high tide was at 2 PM that day, so at 5 PM the water level was still high, making it hard to take good photos.

6:00-7:30 PM Headed to La Terrazza Uluwatu for dinner and stunning views. The restaurant is perched in a prime spot, offering panoramic sunset views and the silhouette of Uluwatu Temple.

Monday, March 19

10:30 AM Visit KIOA Bali, a newly opened brunch spot. Highly recommend the breakfast plate—the sauces are unique and delicious.

12:00 PM: Head to Natura Organics Spa for a traditional Balinese spa experience. The interior decor is relaxing, with beautiful rice field views and excellent massage techniques. You can book via WhatsApp.

3:00 PM: Grab a ride to your Ubud accommodation at jani’s place cottage

6:00 PM: Dine at Kagemusha, a Japanese restaurant. The food is tasty and the setting is lovely.

09:00 AM Start the day with a visit to Abian Desa Rice Terraces to enjoy the scenery.

Wednesday, March 21

8:00 AM Head to Kanto Lampo Waterfall for sightseeing and photos. Hiring a photographer for a session costs about USD$3.

12:00 PM Return to accommodation for an afternoon rest.

Afternoon Visit Saba Beach, a less popular stretch with some litter on the shore. However, the shallow waters are clean and great for photos. The sun is intense with no shade, so aim to stay between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM.

Thursday, March 22

6:00 AM Wake up early

08:30 Take a ride to Sanur Harbor

11:00 Arrive at Nusa Penida

11:45 Arrive at Matasari Inn to drop off luggage

12:00 Lunch at Sushi Island restaurant

12:45–13:20 Explore Broken Beach cliff viewpoint

14:00–17:00 Head to Kelingking Beach, the most famous attraction on Nusa Penida.

On Nusa Penida, the only option is to hire a private driver. I booked a ferry ticket + private car package on Klook, and overall I was very satisfied. The car company contacted me in advance to confirm the itinerary and helped communicate with the driver. As soon as I got off the boat, the driver met me and even helped carry my luggage. Throughout the trip, he was a dedicated guide—when I climbed down to Kelingking Beach, he followed me all the way. I was truly grateful. At every stop, he took photos to report back to the company, which made me, a solo female traveler, feel much safer. I really appreciated the driver’s help from start to finish, carrying luggage and accompanying me for photos—he was very responsible.

For transportation, aside from the airport transfer and the trip to Nusa Penida which were pre-booked private cars, I used Grab or Gojek for everything else. It was very convenient, and most drivers were quiet, allowing me to relax and rest during the rides.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I found Bali’s environment perfect for solo travel and photography. The attractions are spacious, making it easy to set up a tripod and take photos. Except for the airport transfer and the Nusa Penida private car, almost all my beautiful shots were taken by myself using a tripod and remote control. Even in spots where a tripod wasn’t possible—like uneven ground or in waterfall pools—locals often offered to take photos for me at reasonable prices, which was incredibly thoughtful.

Bali’s natural scenery is absolutely stunning! This solo trip gave me an unforgettable experience and showed me the warmth and hospitality of the locals. Solo travel isn’t scary at all; instead, it allowed me to fully immerse myself in nature and exotic vibes. If I get the chance, I’d love to visit this dreamy island again! I look forward to sharing more travel stories with everyone.
