What is Bali’s Electronic Customs Declaration Form?
Bali’s Electronic Customs Declaration Form (eCD) is a digital customs form mandated by the Indonesian government for all incoming travelers. This system replaces the traditional paper version, requiring passengers to complete and submit the form online before arriving in Bali to facilitate swift customs clearance.

The form primarily collects personal information, travel itinerary, and details of any items requiring declaration. Both foreign tourists and returning Indonesian citizens must complete this declaration.
Where to Fill Out the Electronic Customs Form?
You can fill it out on the Indonesian Customs Directorate General’s official website before departure. Airlines often provide the link as well. It’s recommended to complete it before your flight to avoid delays upon arrival.

Page 3: Declaration of Items
Each item category has a ‘Yes / No’ option. If you select ‘Yes,’ you must provide additional details such as quantity, value, and description. Commonly declared items include animal and plant products, alcohol, tobacco, etc. (see the item list below for details).
IMEI Registration

The updated eCD includes a new question: ‘Do you intend to use a mobile phone, handheld computer, or tablet purchased abroad to connect to the local mobile network in Indonesia?’
If your phone is from outside Indonesia and you plan to use an Indonesian SIM card for more than 90 days, select ‘Yes’ to register the IMEI. Short-term travelers (less than 90 days) should select ‘No’.
✅ When to Choose “Yes”
- If you plan to stay in Indonesia for more than 90 days and intend to use a local SIM card, you must declare your device. You’ll need to register your IMEI and potentially pay import taxes with the assistance of customs officers at the airport.
❌ When to Choose “No”
- If your stay is less than 90 days and you’re only using roaming or a temporary local SIM card (for short-term tourist use), you don’t need to declare your device or register your IMEI.
- Most short-term travelers choose “No” even if they bring their phones, and it doesn’t affect their usage.
- Taiwanese business friends in Indonesia who purchased their phones locally also choose “No”.
