Bottom line: Since 2024, visa extensions can be applied for online, but according to the latest regulation as of May 29, 2025, it has reverted to requiring an in-person visit to the immigration office for fingerprinting to complete the extension process—it’s not fully online. Before your trip, check the latest procedures to avoid relying on outdated info that suggests everything can be done remotely.
Starting in 2024, Indonesia will encourage travelers planning to visit Bali to use online immigration services. Travelers can apply for various Indonesian visas online, and also handle visa extensions online without having to visit the immigration office in person! The following visa categories can now be extended online:
- Single-entry visitor visas for vacation, family visits, and transit

If you have already obtained an electronic visa on arrival (eVOA) and decided to extend your stay in Indonesia (beyond 30 days), you will need to extend your visa. To do this, you’ll need your phone/computer and a credit card. To speed up the process, we’ve prepared a detailed step-by-step guide for you.
How to Extend Your Visa?
First, the window to extend your visa starts 14-15 days before your visa expires. To extend your eVOA, go to the website https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/, the same site where you applied for your eVOA. Log in to the personal account you created when applying for the visa. Don’t forget to check the “I’m not a robot” box.

On the main page, find the “extend” option in the menu and click to enter. Find your active eVOA in the list. If this is your first time extending a visa, there should be only one item in the list. Select it. You don’t need to fill out any forms; all data will be automatically transferred from your personal account.

Next, check the address. If the address has changed, update it to a valid address accordingly. At the bottom of the page, check the box to agree to the terms, then click the “Submit” button.

On the next page, review all the information. If everything looks correct, click the “Proceed to Payment” button below to make the payment. Please note that you will have 23 hours to complete the payment.

Next, you’ll need to enter your credit card details as shown in the screenshot below. Once done, click the red “Pay Now” (BAYAR SAKARANG) button at the bottom.

After a successful payment, return to the homepage and click on “extend.”

On the right side under “Status,” you’ll see a green message saying “Paid,” indicating the payment was successful. Below this message, there’s a button labeled “e-ITK”; click it to view your visa.

We recommend taking a screenshot or printing this document because… when you leave Indonesia/Bali, there will be no stamp in your passport showing that you’ve extended your visa, so having a screenshot or printout to show officials is a safer bet.
Note on the Extended Date
When you arrive in Indonesia and get a Visa on Arrival, it’s valid for 30 days. If you plan to extend your stay, you can add another 30 days, but be careful how the new expiration date is calculated. For example, if your original visa expires on November 5, the new expiration date after extension will be December 5. If your original visa expires on December 5, the new expiration date will be January 4.
When calculating the new expiration date, keep in mind the different lengths of months to avoid miscalculations that could lead to overstaying.
