Bali Family Trip Itinerary & Experience
Travel Dates: June 28 - July 4
Accommodation
We chose two amazing villas for this trip. It was our first time staying in a villa as a family, and the kids were thrilled and excited about this unique accommodation experience.
Seminyak Stay
We stayed at The Dusun Villa, which boasts an excellent location near Jalan Kayu Aya Street (Editor’s note: What’s special about this street? Check out Xiao Jie’s introduction).
The pool is clean and spacious, and the villa offers golf cart rental services to Seminyak Square, which is very convenient for families with children. The villa’s interior is elegantly designed and comfortable, featuring a spacious living room and outdoor dining area. Children can play freely in the garden while parents enjoy a relaxing time.

Ubud Accommodation
We stayed at Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana
Here, you can book a Kecak Dance performance without having to squeeze through crowds. The stay includes a lavish afternoon tea and breakfast. The resort environment is relaxed, and the staff is friendly and particularly kind to children. The entire resort is nestled among rice fields and lotus ponds, offering breathtaking views that make you feel like you’re in a paradise.

Nusa Penida (provided by Ya-yun Chen)
-
Today we joined a full-day tour of Nusa Penida’s west side, taking the 10:30 AM ferry. The itinerary included Klingking Beach, Angel Billabong, Broken Beach, and Crystal Bay. The natural scenery at these spots was breathtaking, especially at Klingking Beach, where the dramatic cliff views left our entire family in awe. Although the roads were bumpy, the kids treated it like a bumper car ride and had a blast.

Tips
-
Pre-trip Tipping Culture Insights:
-
- Daily private driver: 50,000~100,000 IDR
- Luggage: 10,000/50,000 IDR (approx. USD$0.65/1.60)
- Bedside/Restaurant: 10,000/20,000 IDR (approx. USD$0.65/1.30)
- Pre-tip for massages: 10%
- “KEEP THE CHANGE”: No need for exact change, as locals often struggle to provide change for amounts below 10,000 IDR.
-
Villa Accommodation Recommendation: If you have kids who love playing in the water, we strongly recommend staying in a villa. You can ask your private driver to arrange for large inflatables from local vendors or book through Klook—your kids will have a blast.

Klook Large Pool Float Rental
- Transportation Tip: July and August are peak seasons, and traffic often gets congested after 11:30 AM. We recommend planning no more than 2-3 attractions per day for a fulfilling experience.
- Nusa Penida Experience: Although the roads are bumpy, the kids treated it like a bumper car ride and found it incredibly fun. Since our children are elementary school-aged, we skipped the snorkeling activities, but a day trip to the west coast alone was well worth it.
The local culture and charm of Bali are truly captivating. Whether it’s the temples, water activities, or natural landscapes, everything has a unique allure. This trip deepened our understanding and love for Bali, and we can’t wait to visit again!
