For this Bali trip, we specifically planned some offshore activities, so we chose to stay in the Sanur area, which is very close to the harbor. This allowed us to avoid waking up too early to rush to our excursions. After returning from our adventures, we could quickly retreat to our accommodation to rest, which was incredibly convenient. We stayed here for three nights at the Holiday Inn, with a nightly rate of approximately $87, suitable for two adults and one child. The room had two beds and was both comfortable and spacious.

Area Highlights

Provided by Alice Li
In the Sanur area, there are relatively fewer Asian tourists; it’s mostly European and American visitors. This makes it particularly suitable for families and travelers with children, as the environment is friendly and safe. There are bicycle paths set up here, and we rented bicycles to ride to the now-famous Icon Bali, enjoying a leisurely time. Icon Bali houses many boutique shops, restaurants, and cafes, making it a great place to relax and enjoy shopping.
Icon Bali Introduction
Shopping and Expenses
Most shops in this area offer traditional rather than modern fashion clothing, so it never feels crowded, and prices are relatively affordable. We enjoyed leisurely browsing here—it’s perfect for relaxing.
For transportation, we mainly used Grab rides, which cost between USD$1 to USD$3, whether by car or motorbike. If your accommodation is in a narrow alley, I recommend opting for a motorbike for more flexibility.
Laundry Services

Sunrise Laundry is fantastic! Recommended by Alice Li.
There are also self-service laundromats nearby, solving our laundry needs for several days. Prices are very reasonable—up to 5kg costs just USD$4, with staff handling washing, drying, and folding. However, they don’t offer ironing services!
Massage Experience
For massage services, Sanur has plenty of options. A one-hour massage typically costs around USD$13 to USD$16. We particularly loved ‘Ur Spa Sanur’—the ambiance is excellent, clean, and tidy, but advance booking is required via WhatsApp. If you’re looking for more affordable options, there’s a traditional massage shop next door that’s USD$2 to USD$3 cheaper, with a decent environment. No advance booking is needed—you can just walk in.
Restaurant Recommendations

This foil-wrapped fish is truly special! Courtesy of Alice Li
For dining, we highly recommend Lilla Warung - their foil-wrapped fish is exceptionally delicious and impressive. Jepun Sanur is another restaurant we wish we had discovered earlier - we wanted to dine there twice in a row! Next door is a famous ice cream shop that always has long queues, but it’s absolutely worth the wait.
