I want to give back to the community by sharing my experience. In March, I traveled solo to Bali for 8 days. Since there isn’t much information online about women traveling alone in Bali, I decided to share my solo travel itinerary and insights.

Actually, it’s quite common to see foreign women traveling alone in Bali. Based on my experience, as long as you maintain some basic precautions, like not getting into strangers’ cars and avoiding eye contact or conversation with people who might harass women on the streets, most locals are warm, friendly, and safe.

Here’s my 8-day solo travel itinerary in Bali:

Saturday, March 17

09:15-14:45 Arrived in Bali by flight. I had pre-booked airport transfer service on Klook, and the driver waited patiently at the airport for 2 hours. After getting in the car, I asked the driver to take me to a money changer first, so I went directly to BMC Money Changer. Then, we headed to The Eight resort where I stayed for the night.

Went to a nearby supermarket to buy mosquito repellent, adapters, sunglasses, and summer swimwear. I bought a summer swimsuit at niconico swimwear. The staff there were friendly and didn’t push for sales, and they had a wide variety of styles.

Sunday, March 18

10:30 AM - 4:30 PM: One Eighty. This place offers excellent facilities, beautiful scenery, and high-quality dining. We recommend purchasing the VIP package to enjoy 6 hours here.

17:30 Arrived at The Blue Point Beach. Check the tides before heading out. On this day, high tide was at 2 PM, and by 5 PM, the water level was still high, making it difficult to take good photos.

18:00-19:30 Moved to La Terrazza Uluwatu for dinner and to enjoy the stunning views. The restaurant is perfectly located, offering panoramic views of the sunset and the silhouette of Uluwatu Temple.

Monday, March 19

10:30 Visited KIOA Bali, a newly opened brunch spot. Highly recommend their breakfast platter—the sauces are unique and delicious.

12:00 PM: Experienced a traditional Balinese SPA at Natura Organics Spa. The interior decor is relaxing, the rice field views are beautiful, and the massage techniques are excellent. Reservations can be made via WhatsApp.

3:00 PM: Take a Grab to your accommodation in Ubud at jani’s place cottage

6:00 PM: Dinner at Kagemusha Japanese Restaurant. Delicious food and beautiful ambiance.

On Nusa Penida, the only option is to hire a private car. I booked my ferry ticket + private car through Klook, and overall, I was very satisfied. The car rental company contacted me in advance to confirm the itinerary and helped communicate with the driver. Upon disembarking, the driver met me and even helped carry my luggage. Throughout the trip, he was very attentive as a guide. When I wanted to climb down to Kelingking Beach, he followed me down—I’m truly grateful to him. At each stop, he took photos and reported back to the company, which made me feel much safer as a solo female traveler. I’m really thankful for the driver, who helped carry my luggage, accompanied me for photos, and was very responsible throughout the journey.

For transportation, apart from pre-booked airport transfers and the trip to Nusa Penida, we used Grab or Gojek for rides, which were very convenient and allowed for relaxed travel as drivers were mostly quiet.

Conclusion

In summary, I found Bali’s environment perfect for solo travel photography. The spacious attractions allowed for easy tripod setup, and except for airport transfers and Nusa Penida, almost all my beautiful photos were taken by myself using a tripod and remote. Even in scenarios where a tripod couldn’t be used, like uneven floors or waterfalls, locals often offered photography services at reasonable prices, which was very thoughtful.

Bali’s natural scenery is breathtaking! This solo trip gave me unforgettable experiences and showed me the warmth and hospitality of the locals. Traveling alone isn’t scary; it allowed me to fully immerse myself in nature and exotic cultures. I look forward to visiting this dreamy island again and sharing more travel stories with everyone.
