Bottom line: A recommended 4-day Ubud itinerary—dine at the vegetarian restaurant Wild Fire (try their signature Gado-Gado salad), visit the Sacred Monkey Forest (watch your belongings; monkeys may snatch items from your bag—buy tickets in advance to skip the queue), and take a leisurely stroll through the countryside around the Campuhan Ridge Walk. With a relaxed pace, you can enjoy four full days without switching hotels.
Ubud is a must-see for every Bali traveler. This YouTube influencer [Jits into the Sunset] shares videos online that introduce this cultural hub.
Arriving in Ubud
Upon arriving in Ubud, they first dined at Wild Fire, a highly-rated vegetarian restaurant. The setting is serene, the food is vibrant, and their signature Gado-Gado salad—fresh vegetables and beans drizzled with peanut sauce—is refreshing and appetizing, winning them over instantly.
Sacred Monkey Forest
The next morning, they headed to Ubud’s most famous attraction—the Sacred Monkey Forest. Home to over 700 wild monkeys, it offers a rare chance to observe these agile, adorable creatures up close as they chase, play, and interact, vividly displaying instincts not far from our own. But a funny incident occurred: while they were focused on the monkeys, a cheeky little monkey opened their backpack and stole a wallet containing cash and bank cards! Luckily, a staff member quickly lured the monkey away with food and safely retrieved the wallet. It made for a surprising and unforgettable travel experience.

Countryside Stroll
Leaving the monkey forest, they followed a path into the countryside around Ubud. The scenery was lovely, with lush green rice fields all around, exuding a peaceful and leisurely vibe. They eventually reached a quiet rice paddy that felt like a hidden paradise, reminding them of their previous trip to Costa Rica.

Art Market
Strolling through Ubud not only offers stunning natural scenery but also places you at the heart of Bali’s art and culture. They explored the bustling art market, admiring a variety of handcrafted items like wood carvings, silk, and ceramics. The wife even experienced the most relaxing massage of her life at a temporary massage pavilion, completely unwinding both body and mind.
Purification at Tirta Empul
For their final stop, they visited Bali’s most sacred temple, Tirta Empul. It was a full moon night, and the temple was filled with local devotees coming to bathe and purify themselves, showcasing the unique Hindu faith. In this thousand-year-old heritage site, they were deeply moved by the devout atmosphere and touched by the temple’s warm hospitality, offering free candies and fruits.
