Key Takeaway (Updated July 2024): Errors in your e-VOA can no longer be corrected—Indonesia’s immigration authority stopped accepting correction requests as of July 2024. The right approach is: Double-check every detail before payment—name, place of birth, passport number. If you spot an error, don’t pay; just reapply. If you only notice the mistake after paying, you’ll have to apply for a new e-VOA. The email-based correction method described in the first half of this article is outdated and no longer valid, kept here for reference.
Recently, a group member named Mike Chiu ran into trouble while applying for an Indonesia e-VOA. He asked for advice in our Facebook group. Mike said he correctly entered his place of birth as ‘TAIWAN’ on the application form and double-checked it. But when he received the final e-VOA, the place of birth appeared as ‘Talwan’—the ‘i’ had somehow turned into an ‘l’. Unsure if this was acceptable, he asked whether he needed to re-edit the application or how to proceed.
In response, another traveler, Wei Chih Wen, suggested Mike first note down the e-VOA number, then write to the relevant department explaining the need to correct the place of birth error, and wait patiently for a reply. Wei Chih Wen also mentioned having faced a similar issue before and successfully receiving a corrected response.
In the end, Mike Chiu followed the advice and quickly got an official reply, resolving the issue smoothly. This experience serves as a reminder that if you encounter similar problems during the visa application process, contacting the authorities for corrections and confirmation can help avoid disruptions to your travel plans.

What Exactly Should You Do?
Asking the Indonesian immigration office for help is the only solution. We recommend reaching out via the Indonesian immigration website’s Contact Us section (top right corner of the homepage) during business hours.
Email correspondence should be concise and to the point, so they know exactly what your issue is. Follow the format below to include the necessary information in your email, and you’ll be able to fix common errors like name or place of birth on your e-VOA as quickly as possible:

[July 2024 Update]
Due to a high volume of requests for corrections, starting July, the Indonesian Immigration Office no longer accepts applications to amend incorrect information. Here is their official response:

Make sure to double-check carefully before making payment!
Therefore, if you’re applying for an e-visa, please review everything thoroughly before paying. If you spot any errors, do not proceed with payment—simply reapply!
