This is a record of our family of four’s exciting journey in Bali and Komodo Island. We spent three days in Bali, followed by two days in Komodo Island, making it a total of five days of adventure, including a two-day-one-night liveaboard trip in Komodo.

Wonderful Experiences in Bali
Here, I would like to highly recommend our Bali private driver, Xiao Wu. During our three days in Bali, Xiao Wu accompanied and took care of us throughout. Xiao Wu is the husband of Betty Pinky and speaks fluent Chinese, so we started discussing our itinerary with him while still in Taiwan. He arranged accommodations and activities according to our needs, whether it was mountain or sea excursions or tasting local snacks. He effortlessly guided us to deeply experience the charm of Bali.

During the trip, Xiao Wu chatted with us, helping us understand much about the local culture. His arrangements were meticulous, whether it was restaurants or activities, everything was point-to-point, allowing us to enjoy ourselves thoroughly. He even tried his best to arrange the best seats for us, capturing the best views. Surprisingly, during the sunrise jeep tour, Xiao Wu brought a drone, and his jeep partner used an iPhone 15 to take stunning photos for us, which he later edited, leaving us with beautiful memories!

On our last day in Bali, as we were heading to Komodo Island, we chose to stay near the airport. When we planned to simply take the hotel taxi to the airport, Xiao Wu was concerned that the driver might mistakenly take us to the international terminal. So, he made a special trip early in the morning to remind the driver and ensure everything went smoothly. However, a minor hiccup still occurred (I gave the wrong amount of money because I was too relaxed 😭), but thankfully, with Xiao Wu’s help, he and his wife worked hard to resolve the issue, and we eventually got our money back. In a foreign place, having them around was incredibly reassuring. When we returned to Bali after our Komodo Island trip, Xiao Wu even came to the airport to return the money and escorted us from the domestic terminal to the security entrance of the international terminal before leaving.
Komodo Island Liveaboard Adventure
The sunset view from the liveaboard (provided by Tyty Chow):
Our two-day, one-night liveaboard trip to Komodo Island was truly an unforgettable experience. The comfort of the liveaboard exceeded our expectations—the sea was calm, and the gentle breeze made it very pleasant (though this depends on the weather conditions at the time). The meals on board were simple but delicious, with the grilled fish being particularly memorable.

One of the biggest advantages of joining a liveaboard is the opportunity to witness the sunrise at Padar Island without the hassle of rushing back and forth like on speedboat tours. Speedboat tours usually can’t accommodate sunrise viewing, but liveaboards give us the chance to experience Padar’s magnificent sunrise. Additionally, the evening sunsets and night skies left us completely mesmerized.

However, the two-day, one-night itinerary felt a bit rushed, especially when we encountered a light rain in the afternoon. The sea conditions became slightly unstable, slowing down the boat and reducing some of our planned activities. Based on this experience, I recommend friends interested in Komodo tours to opt for a three-day, two-night or longer itinerary, especially if you’re into diving or snorkeling. A two-day trip is indeed a bit too short to fully experience all the highlights of Komodo Island.
