Here’s some important news to share—Bali’s tourist tax is about to be subject to spot checks! This new policy has been in place for five weeks, and now it’s time to ensure every visitor understands and complies with this new system.

The head of Bali’s Tourism Bureau announced this news at a recent press conference. He stated that the newly established tourism police unit will begin spot checks starting March 26, targeting popular spots in Bali such as Kuta Beach, Uluwatu Temple, and Tanah Lot. These tourism police will also patrol with their adorable dogs, which not only assist the officers but also serve as friendly icebreakers with tourists, creating a more relaxed atmosphere.
According to the latest data, only 40% of foreign tourists have paid the tourist tax. Therefore, these spot checks aim to ensure everyone pays their dues on time. Of course, we understand this might be a new challenge for some visitors, but don’t worry—the tourism bureau has provided various payment methods, including smartphone apps, website payments, and airport counters. There’s an option for everyone!
