2024 Guide to Extending Your Visa Online in Indonesia/Bali

Starting in 2024, Indonesia will encourage tourists planning to visit Bali to use online immigration services. Visitors can apply for various Indonesian visas online and also handle visa extensions online, eliminating the need to visit immigration offices in person! (Latest update as of 05/29/2025: Now, you need to visit the immigration office in person for fingerprinting! Please see here)

The following visa categories can now be extended online:

  • Single-entry visitor visas for vacation, family visits, and transit
  • Single-entry visitor visas for medical treatment
  • Single-entry visitor visas for foreign government officials
  • Single-entry visitor visas for short-term courses and training
  • Single-entry visitor visas for international exhibitions

If you have already obtained an electronic Visa on Arrival (eVOA) and decide to extend your stay in Indonesia (more than 30 days), you will need to extend your visa. For this, you need to prepare your phone/computer and a credit card. To expedite the process, we have prepared a detailed guide for you.

How to Extend Your Visa?

First, the timing for extending your visa starts 14-15 days before the visa expires. To extend your eVOA, visit the website https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/, where you applied for your eVOA. Log in to the personal account you created when applying for the visa. Don’t forget to check the “I’m not a robot” box.

On the homepage, find the “extend” option in the menu and click on it. Locate your valid eVOA in the list. If this is your first time extending the visa, there should only be one item in the list. Select it. You don’t need to fill out any forms; all data will be automatically transferred from your personal account.

Next, we check the address. If there are any changes, update it to a valid address accordingly. At the bottom of the page, check the box to agree to the terms, then click the “Submit” button.

On the next page, we check all the information. If everything is correct, click the “Proceed to Payment” button at the bottom to make the payment. Please note, you will have 23 hours to complete the payment.

Next, you’ll need to enter your credit card details as shown in the screenshot below. After completing the entry, click the red button at the bottom labeled “BAYAR SAKARANG” (Pay Now).

After successful payment, return to the “extend” section on the homepage.

In the “Status” section on the right, you’ll see a green message stating “Paid,” indicating successful payment. Below this message, there’s a button labeled “e-ITK”; click it to view your visa.

We recommend taking a screenshot or printing this document because… when you leave Indonesia/Bali, there will be no notation in your passport indicating that you’ve extended your visa, so having a screenshot or printout will make it easier to present to the relevant authorities.

Pay Attention to the Extended Date

When you arrive in Indonesia and obtain a Visa on Arrival, this visa is valid for 30 days. If you plan to extend your stay, you can extend it for another 30 days, but pay special attention to how the new expiration date is calculated. For example, if your original visa expiration date is November 5th, after extending, the new expiration date will be December 5th. If your original visa expiration date is December 5th, then the extended expiration date will be January 4th.

When calculating the new expiration date, be mindful of the differences in month lengths to avoid miscalculations that could lead to overstaying.
