【Uluwatu Accommodation】Le Cliff Bali Complete Guide: Front Row Cliffside Ocean Views, Falling Asleep to the Sound of Waves for Ultimate Romance

✏️ 編輯文章

Uluwatu, Bali, has many ocean-facing hotels, but only this one literally lets you ‘live on the cliffside.’

Le Cliff Bali is nestled among Uluwatu’s cliff rocks, facing Padang Padang’s famous surf spot. Open your door to endless ocean views, and lie in bed to see the entire horizon. This isn’t a hotel where ‘ocean view rooms cost extra’—every room naturally faces the sea. Averaging $223 per night, it’s pricier than Bali’s average accommodations, but the view offers a rare experience money can’t buy.

📍 Location and Surroundings

The hotel is located on Jalan Labuan Sait, Uluwatu’s core area, requiring a descent of about 200 stone steps from the parking lot to reach the accommodation itself. More on this later, but first, let’s talk about the surroundings.

Within walking distance is Padang Padang Beach, one of Uluwatu’s most famous small beaches, known for its unique rock formations, ideal for snorkeling and photography. Uluwatu Temple is about a 15-minute drive away, where you can watch the Kecak fire dance at night—highly recommended. Pandawa Beach is also not far by car.

The area boasts numerous restaurants and cafes: Single Fin Bali is renowned across Bali for its sunset views, Ulu Garden excels in Indonesian cuisine, and Suka Espresso is perfect for a morning coffee. Surfing lessons are also available within walking distance. Overall, the area is lively, yet the hotel itself feels like an isolated cliffside sanctuary.

🏨 Facilities

Descending the 200+ stone steps from the parking lot, you might start questioning your life choices—but when the vast Indian Ocean unfolds before your eyes, all complaints will likely vanish instantly.

The hotel is small-scale, with only 10 rooms, embracing a boutique and intimate accommodation style. The communal spaces are built right against the cliffside, featuring outdoor terraces and rope beds on the rocks where you can lie back and gaze at the sea. Guests have mentioned a suspended sunbathing bed hanging directly over the ocean, which stands out as one of the most memorable design elements here.

The restaurant offers simple Indonesian and Western dishes, with breakfast available as an add-on or included in certain room types. Some guests have noted inconsistency in the food quality, suggesting that mornings might be better spent exploring nearby eateries. Room service is also available, but beware of monkeys if you’re too lazy to fetch your meal—they really do steal (more on that later).

Wi-Fi signal is predictably weak at the base of the cliff, so brace yourself for that. On-site motorbike rentals are available, making it convenient to explore the surrounding areas.

Rooms are categorized into several levels: the basic Deluxe Double Room, the Deluxe Double with Balcony, and the sea-view rooms. All rooms face the ocean, differing mainly in balcony size and viewing angles.

The rooms feature Balinese wooden decor, equipped with air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, tea/coffee facilities, safes, and showers. Overall, they are clean and tidy, though the decor feels somewhat dated, lacking the refined touch of newer hotels.

The rooms are generally reported to be on the smaller side, so if you’re traveling as a couple with lots of luggage, it might feel a bit cramped. Some rooms have balconies above that can compromise privacy, so keep this in mind when selecting your room.

👥 Ideal For

Perfect for surfers and sunset photography enthusiasts — it’s right next to Padang Padang surf spot, making it easy to hit the waves directly from the shore. Also great for travelers seeking an ‘atypical Bali experience’ or honeymooners looking for that secluded vibe. Not suitable for families with young children, those with knee problems, or mobility-impaired travelers — the hotel officially recommends against stays for children under 15 due to the extremely challenging stairs.

💬 Guest Reviews

“The room views are breathtaking, with the sound of waves crashing against the reef morning and night. The staff are incredibly friendly, and porters help with luggage, but be prepared for the physical exertion of climbing those stairs.” (Source: Tripadvisor ⭐ Highly Recommended)

“Once we checked in, we never wanted to leave. Lying in bed, we could see the entire horizon, with the sunset streaming directly through the windows. Just beware of the monkeys — they’re quite bold and will quickly snatch any food left on the balcony.” (Source: Agoda ⭐ 8.5)

⚠️ Must-Know Before You Stay

There are a few things that need to be clarified:

  • The stone steps are quite challenging: Someone counted over 200 irregular rock steps from the parking lot to the rooms. Pack light or arrange in advance via WhatsApp for porter assistance (additional fee applies).
  • The monkeys are really aggressive: Monkeys in this area are used to snatching things from people. Be especially careful when eating with the balcony windows open.
  • Parking is currently limited: Due to nearby temple grounds, it’s recommended to come by bike or scooter. If driving, you may need to park on the main road and walk.
  • Check-in is from 15:00 to 12:00 the next day, contact the hotel in advance if you need to extend.
