This travelogue was contributed by group member Serena, documenting a family trip to Bali with five adults and two young children. During the journey, they spent seven wonderful days with their guide and driver, Xiao Zhong (Pacung Bali). Through a detailed itinerary and recommended attractions, they explored every corner of Bali, savored local cuisine, enjoyed a variety of water activities, and created many precious memories and beautiful photos.
Bottom Line: For a 5-adult, 2-child, 7-day, 6-night trip, we recommend staying at Kuta Beachwalk Residence (a three-bedroom apartment with Beachwalk Shopping Center right downstairs, ideal for large families). The itinerary covers Jimbaran beach dining, South Bali/Uluwatu attractions, and is perfect for families with elderly and children who need more living space and convenient amenities.
Feb 13: Arrival at 2:45 PM / Settling in Kuta
On our first day in Bali, we chose to stay at Beachwalk Residence Trip Booking in Kuta, which offers three-bedroom apartments.

Our Bali trip was coming to an end. In the morning, we visited Tanah Lot Temple and La Brisa, hailed as the most beautiful sunset restaurant in Bali. There happened to be a Sunday Market that day, selling mostly creative goods, and all items were non-negotiable.

Afterword
Here are some must-try and must-visit recommendations for Bali, along with a few tips to avoid pitfalls:
- Natys Restaurant: Don’t miss their seafood platter and beef bourguignon! They’ve recently opened branches in many locations, and the quality is consistent.
- Tanjung Benoa Water Sports: Highly recommend the underwater walking experience for diving beginners. Though it’s a man-made attraction, it’s a unique experience. Avoid Turtle Island—it’s quite boring and lacks distinctive animals. Also, be sure to haggle; you can get 20-40% off.
Book online to avoid scams:
Book Tanjung Benoa Water Sports (Multiple Combos)
Book Tanjung Benoa Banana Boat Combo - Uluwatu Cliff Road: The scenery here is stunning and perfect for photos. Visit in the morning for fewer crowds.
- Uluwatu Temple, Tanah Lot Temple, and Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park: All worth a visit. Uluwatu Temple and Tanah Lot Temple offer beautiful views and great photo ops. At Garuda Wisnu Kencana, if your budget allows, take the shuttle to the statue area to avoid heatstroke.
- Ubud Swing: There are various fun activities here, including zip lines and sky bikes. Nearby, there’s a hidden gem of a restaurant serving amazing pork ribs and fried noodles—it’s a bit tucked away, so ask your driver to guide you.
- La Brisa: If you plan to go to the bar at the very back, don’t bring water out of the car—the restaurant will ask you to pour it all out.
- Beachwalk Residence: For family trips, consider staying at Beachwalk Residence Trip Booking. It offers family-style apartment units, within walking distance to shopping malls and the beach, offering great value for money.
- Traffic is heavy during Chinese New Year: Travel times were 30 minutes to 1.5 hours longer than Google Maps estimates, especially to Ubud, where delays were even more significant. Roads near the palace are narrow, causing severe congestion.
