In November 2024, the number of foreign tourists reached 1.09 million, an 8.58% decrease compared to October, aligning with the off-season trend. However, the final 2024 data will take another month to fully compile, but it is certain that by early February 2025 when the final data is released, the total number of tourists in Indonesia will exceed 13 million.

Bali Tourism Hits Historic High

Regarding Bali, Tjokorda Bagus Pemayun, the Head of Bali Tourism Office, stated that as of December 29, 2024, Bali had welcomed 6.3 million international tourists. He added, ‘The data for December 30 and 31 has not yet been included.’ This number far exceeds the initial target of 5.5 million set for 2024 and surpasses the 6.2 million recorded in 2019.

Pemayun noted that Australia, India, and China were the primary sources of international tourists in 2024. He emphasized that the goal for 2025 is to attract 6.5 million international tourists. He added, ‘We are not just looking for numerical growth but also hoping that foreign tourists will stay longer, spend more, and respect local culture and society.’

Commitment to Sustainable Development and High-Quality Tourism

The Bali Tourism Office is dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism and creating high-quality travel experiences. When asked about the impact of recent natural disasters, tourist fatalities, and the monsoon season, Pema Yun acknowledged that these negative events have indeed had an effect, but Bali’s status as a top vacation destination remains unshaken.

He further revealed: “Based on our discussions with the Indonesian Tourism and Travel Association (Asita), Bali remains the most popular vacation spot. The number of visitors during this year’s Christmas and New Year holidays has increased by 20% compared to previous years.”
