The following content is adapted from fellow traveler Sannie Lin’s travelogue:
Our 6-day 5-night Bali adventure has come to a successful conclusion! We’re immensely grateful to the enthusiastic community members and the wealth of information provided, which made traveling with our two children both relaxing and enjoyable. The journey went smoothly!

First, let’s talk about our preparations and the customs process:
✔️ E-Visa: Upon arrival, we noticed that the queue for the visa on arrival took about 20 minutes. Fortunately, thanks to the community’s recommendation of the new e-visa website, we saved a lot of time! Using the e-visa was indeed much more convenient, allowing us to start our journey faster.

✔️ Currency Exchange: Initially, we exchanged USD$200, as most places accepted card payments. However, towards the end, we realized we didn’t have enough cash to pay for our driver’s car rental service, so we exchanged an additional USD$150 at the hotel. This experience taught us that while card payments are convenient, it’s important to keep an eye on cash needs, especially when using car rental services, to ensure that a lack of cash doesn’t disrupt our plans!

Next is our detailed itinerary, which is arranged as follows:
Day 1
Upon arriving in Bali, we headed straight to our accommodation at Bidadari Villa. Along the way, our driver Agus kindly took us to purchase a SIM card and exchange currency. We opted for the cheapest 12GB data plan, which cost around USD$16. The internet speed in Bali was quite stable, and the data was sufficient for our entire trip, whether for navigation or sharing travel updates online.

In the evening, we walked about 8 minutes to Natys Restaurant Ubud for dinner. While the prices weren’t exactly cheap, the food quality was excellent, with both flavor and presentation up to par. The service was attentive, and the restaurant’s ambiance was perfect for a relaxing family dinner.

The first day went smoothly. Although we were a bit tired from the journey, the comfortable accommodation and delicious food quickly put us in vacation mode, and we looked forward to the days ahead.
Day Two

We went river tubing at Nukuwera
Today was a day trip around Ubud by private car, and our first stop was Nukuwera & Pandawa River Tubing, recommended by Jason. The package included lunch, and the river tubing experience was perfect for families. We had a great time with our kids, who thoroughly enjoyed their time in the water.

Afterwards, we headed to the famous Sacred Monkey Forest

Wild monkeys can easily become aggressive, so it’s best to keep your distance
The kids were fascinated by the monkeys here, but we were extra cautious as these monkeys can sometimes be quite mischievous.
Next, we visited Ubud Palace to soak in the local cultural atmosphere. Afterward, we made a special trip to KUO CUSINE to purchase some local specialty jams. They offer a wide variety of jams, and bringing a few jars home as souvenirs is a great idea.
Dinner was more spontaneous since we were traveling with kids, so our schedule was relatively relaxed. We found Warung Pulau Kelapa on Google, and luckily, the food was excellent. Although the prices were on the higher side, the ambiance was lovely, making it perfect for a family meal. For us traveling with children, a comfortable dining environment and convenient location were more important than price, allowing us to enjoy our dinner stress-free.

Overall, today’s itinerary wasn’t overly packed, but it was filled with family-friendly fun, leaving our family feeling very satisfied.

Day Three
Today was our travel day to Bali Safari & Marine Park. Along the way, we asked our driver Benny to take us to try the burgers at Ayoo-Ayoo. This place has a stellar five-star rating on Google, so we went with high expectations—and it didn’t disappoint! The burgers were fantastic, with juicy, tender meat and generous toppings. It was a truly satisfying culinary experience for our whole family.

Editor’s Note: I’ve tried at least 50 different burgers in Bali, and almost none have disappointed—each one was delicious!
Next, we stopped by a nearby supermarket to stock up on essentials before arriving at the zoo and checking in. That evening, we chose to dine at Tsavo Lion Restaurant, located within the park. The highlight of this restaurant is that you can enjoy your meal while watching lions through the glass windows! The kids were thrilled, making the entire dining experience both fun and unique.

After dinner, the restaurant offered a photo session with the animals outside. We opted for this service, and the photographer took many pictures—mom with our son, dad with our daughter, and a family portrait of all four of us. The best part? The entire package, including all digital files and one A4-sized printed photo in a beautiful album, cost only around USD$23. The photo quality was excellent, and everyone looked great. We felt it was an incredibly worthwhile way to capture the memories!

The kids had a blast at the zoo!
Although today’s itinerary was mostly about traveling, it was filled with surprises and heartwarming family moments.
Day 4
Today we moved from Bali Safari to Westin Nusa Dua. Along the way, we asked our driver Agus to help us find some local snacks, including Siobak roasted pork and Martabak egg pancakes. Agus not only found us the perfect little shops but also carefully communicated with the shop owners to ensure we weren’t overcharged as tourists. His thoughtful service truly warmed our hearts.

Next, we asked our driver about buying souvenirs and visited Krisna and The Balinese for some shopping. When recommending Krisna, Agus even reminded us to let him know if we needed to go anywhere else, allowing us to decide our itinerary freely. This reminded me of a travel experience over a decade ago when I explicitly stated I didn’t want to shop but was still forcibly taken to several shopping factories by the driver. I was furious at the time. This experience, however, left me feeling satisfied and relaxed because Agus fully respected our wishes.

For dinner, we dined at the resort’s Velada Restaurant, enjoying burgers and Indian cuisine. The restaurant’s ambiance was very comfortable, and the food was delicious. The burgers were flavorful, and the Indian dishes were a delightful surprise, with spices perfectly balanced, making it a perfect end to our fourth day of the trip.
Overall, today’s itinerary allowed us to experience the warmth and thoughtfulness of the locals, making our trip even more enjoyable and unforgettable.

Day 5
Today we decided to spend a relaxing day at the Westin resort, enjoying the sea views, indulging in spa treatments, and cycling. The kids went to the Kid’s Club to play under professional supervision, allowing us to enjoy some adult time in peace. 😁

Day 6
On our final day, we headed to the airport, once again with Agus driving us. We are very grateful for his and Benny’s patience and tolerance towards our kids’ noise in the car, making our journey smoother.
For lunch, we chose Made’s Warung at the airport. Our farewell meal had to include the nostalgic Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng. These classic Indonesian fried rice and noodles never get old, accompanying our emotions as we bid farewell to Bali 👋, perfectly concluding our trip.
Throughout the journey, we not only enjoyed beautiful scenery and delicious food but also created many wonderful memories with our kids. These experiences will remain as precious and unforgettable moments in our hearts.
Highly Recommended
We’d especially like to thank our drivers Agus and Benny, who were not only attentive but always thoughtful about our needs, whether it was itinerary planning or transportation arrangements.

One particularly touching moment was when Agus helped us secure an extra discount for our river tubing experience! While I had some doubts this might be part of a guide commission rebate, even so, this extra gesture warmed our hearts, as they weren’t obligated to pass any savings back to us. They were also exceptionally caring with our children throughout the trip, making us feel truly cherished ❤️. Traveling with kids inevitably comes with challenges, but having such considerate drivers made the entire journey much more relaxed and enjoyable.
