After this wonderful 7-day, 6-night Bali trip, I have some insights and suggestions to share with friends planning to visit:

1️⃣ Exchanging Indonesian Rupiah
During our trip, each of us exchanged about USD$320, which was just enough for the 7-day, 6-night itinerary, and even allowed us to buy quite a few souvenirs. Therefore, I recommend exchanging between USD$300 to USD$350, supplemented with credit card payments. Many restaurants and massage parlors accept credit cards, which allows for flexible budgeting.
2️⃣ Internet
I recommend purchasing a local SIM card after arriving in Bali, as it tends to be cheaper and offers more stable connectivity (this might just be my personal experience). The airport provides free Wi-Fi, so there’s no need to worry about contacting your driver. The SIM card we bought locally offered 18GB of data per person, which was more than enough for seven days, even with frequent use of social media, watching YouTube videos, and downloading apps. So, you can choose a data plan that suits your usage needs.

3️⃣ Visa, Tourist Tax, and Customs
Remember to apply for your visa online before departure. You can also complete your customs declaration online three days in advance to avoid long queues at the airport and save time.
4️⃣ Transportation
In Bali, apart from hiring a private driver, most short-distance travel or food delivery services are accessed through the Grab or Gojek apps. Make sure to set up your account in Taiwan (you’ll need a Taiwanese phone number to receive the verification code) so you can use these services smoothly once you arrive.

⚠️ Your Private Driver is Crucial!
Because information online is so scattered, we were still confused about directions even after arriving in Bali. Thankfully, our driver Komang WikaSutresna was a jack-of-all-trades. No matter what we asked, he always found us the best value options. It seemed like he knew someone everywhere in Bali, and he could always help us coordinate and handle things wherever we went. He was absolutely amazing!
When we first arrived in Bali, we directly asked Komang where to get the best deals on SIM cards and currency exchange. He immediately took us to these places. The money changer seemed to be a place he knew well, so the transaction was super quick. The SIM card shop even offered free drinks—the service was fantastic!
Traffic in Bali can be quite chaotic, and for safety-conscious travelers like us, choosing a careful and steady driver is crucial. Fortunately, our driver Komang was extremely cautious, which made us feel very secure. Before heading to Uluwatu for a performance, my glasses were snatched by a monkey, causing us to miss part of the show. However, seeing our disappointment, Komang went out of his way to ask the Monkey General from the fire dance performance, allowing us to take photos with him (seeing the Monkey General up close was truly impressive XDD). This close encounter with local traditional culture became a very special memory for us.

During this trip, we were fortunate to meet the incredibly kind and attentive Komang. He said his greatest wish is for all visitors to Bali to experience the beauty of this place. We are truly grateful for his help. If you’re planning a trip to Bali, I highly recommend Komang!
