This Bali trip was an exciting first-time experience for me! I’m very grateful to the friends who shared their tips in the Facebook group, which helped me find an amazing Chinese-speaking driver. I’ll introduce him in detail at the end of the article.
Essential Preparations Before Departure:
- Excellent Chinese-Speaking Driver Having a Chinese-speaking driver on this trip meant I never had to worry about transportation. His Chinese was very fluent, and he not only took us to all the popular local spots but also flexibly adjusted the itinerary based on time and traffic, making the journey smoother.
- Confirm Itinerary with the Driver Before departure, remember to communicate the daily schedule with the driver in advance. The driver will offer professional advice based on our needs, ensuring the best experience at each attraction.
- Exchange TWD for USD Before leaving, remember to exchange some New Taiwan Dollars for US Dollars, and then exchange them for Indonesian Rupiah upon arrival in Bali. This is the most cost-effective way to exchange money.
- E-Visa Don’t forget to apply for the Indonesian e-visa in advance. This will save you time waiting in line at airport immigration, making the start of your trip smoother.
- Tourist Tax Bali charges a tourist tax for incoming visitors. It’s recommended to pay it online in advance to avoid cumbersome procedures upon arrival.
- Customs Declaration Form Remember to fill out the customs declaration form online three days before departure. This will save you a lot of time when entering the country.
- Health Certificate and Flight Ticket On the day of departure, remember to get your flight ticket and fill out the health certificate to ensure all documents are complete and correct, avoiding last-minute panic at the airport.
- Prepare Essential Medications Although this trip wasn’t very long, it’s still good to have some basic medications on hand just in case, such as stomach medicine and cold medicine.
These preparations may seem tedious, but they all contribute to a smoother journey, allowing me to fully enjoy every moment in Bali!

Day 1 Itinerary:
Arrive in Bali at 15:15 The plane touched down right on time at Bali’s international airport, marking the official start of our long-awaited adventure!
Present Completed Health Certificate After disembarking, the first step was to show our pre-filled health certificate. This process was quick and smooth, showing us that Bali’s pandemic protocols are still running efficiently.
Present Completed Electronic Visa Next up was showing our e-visa. Since we had it ready in advance, we skipped the lines and used facial recognition technology to breeze through immigration. It was incredibly convenient and saved us a lot of hassle!
Present Customs Declaration Form The final step was showing our customs declaration, which we also completed online beforehand. The entire entry process went off without a hitch.
Wait for Luggage We cleared immigration so fast that waiting for our luggage ended up taking the longest! 🤣 But once we had our bags in hand, we felt a huge wave of relief.
Meet Our Driver As soon as we exited the airport, our pre-booked driver was already waiting for us. Seeing him made the whole trip feel so much more grounded and real! We were ready to kick off our culinary journey through Bali.
Dinner: Naughty Nuri’s Warung, Sanur (Amazing Pork Ribs)
For our first meal in Bali, we chose Naughty Nuri’s Warung in Sanur, famous for its signature pork ribs. It lived up to the hype—the meat was tender and juicy, paired with a secret sauce that awakened every taste bud. Absolutely delicious! If you’re in Bali, this place is a must on your foodie list.

After dinner, we checked into Maison Aurelia Hotel in Sanur. The hotel had a wonderfully cozy atmosphere, elegant decor, and a very convenient location. Stepping into the room instantly put us in a relaxed vacation mood. It was the perfect place to rest up and recharge for the next day’s adventures.
Day 2 Itinerary (Nusa Lembongan Adventure):
Driver picks us up at the hotel in the morning Early in the morning, our private driver arrived right on time to pick us up from the hotel. Today’s plan was to head to the stunning Nusa Lembongan, and we were filled with anticipation!
Buy Nusa Lembongan tour at Sanur ferry terminal After arriving at the Sanur ferry terminal, we purchased a day trip to Nusa Lembongan on the spot. There were plenty of options available, and we chose a package that included snorkeling and sightseeing—it offered great value for money.
Thoughtful arrangement of a Chinese-speaking guide The best part of the tour was that they arranged a Chinese-speaking guide to accompany us throughout the day, providing explanations along the way. This made our journey much more relaxed and enriching—no language barriers to worry about, and we gained deeper insights into the local natural landscapes and culture.
Exciting activities: Snorkeling, Devil’s Tear, Dream Beach, Mangrove Forest We enjoyed crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life at the snorkeling spots around Nusa Lembongan, with colorful tropical fish swimming all around us—absolutely breathtaking! Next, we visited the famous ‘Devil’s Tear,’ where massive waves crashed against the rocks, sending spray flying into the air—a dramatic and awe-inspiring sight. Then we headed to Dream Beach, which truly lived up to its name with its fine white sand and azure waters, offering pure relaxation. Finally, we explored the mangrove forest ecosystem, getting up close to the area’s natural wonders. The entire itinerary was rich and diverse.
Includes lunch, relaxing beach time, and a cold Bintang beer Lunch was thoughtfully arranged as part of the itinerary. We enjoyed a local-style meal at a beachfront restaurant on Nusa Lembongan. Afterward, we strolled along the sand, took photos, and cracked open an ice-cold Bintang beer, fully soaking in this rare moment of leisure.

Private driver picks us up and takes us back to the hotel After a full day of fun, our Bali private driver arrived on time to take us back to the hotel. The stunning beauty of Nusa Lembongan left us wanting more—this trip was truly worthwhile.
Exploring Sanur’s streets Back in Sanur, we freshened up and wandered around the nearby streets. The area was lively and full of local character. During our stroll, we discovered many small shops brimming with authentic Balinese charm.
Dinner: Forketta Bali Italian Restaurant For dinner, we chose Forketta Bali, an Italian restaurant in Sanur. Known for its refined Italian cuisine, we ordered their signature handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza. The texture and flavors were incredibly authentic, leaving us thoroughly satisfied. This delicious Italian meal was the perfect way to cap off a fulfilling day!

Day 3 Itinerary (Ubud Day Trip):
White-water rafting adventure Our Ubud trip kicked off with an exhilarating rafting experience. We navigated through Bali’s stunning tropical rainforest, drifting along crystal-clear rivers and feeling the rush of the rapids. It’s a must-do for adventure lovers—full of surprises and challenges, truly unforgettable!
Instagram-worthy café: Swing photo spot
After the rafting ended, we arrived at a very famous Instagram-worthy café, known for its giant swings that let us sway while gazing out at the stunning rice terraces. The locals are incredibly skilled at photography, and the whole atmosphere makes every shot look like a postcard—truly a perfect spot for snapping photos and checking in.
Tebasari Resto, Bar & Lounge
Classic Dirty Duck Rice At lunchtime, we visited a famous dirty duck rice restaurant in Ubud. This dish is a classic Ubud delicacy, with crispy duck skin and tender meat, paired with a variety of local sauces that really whet the appetite! It’s definitely a must-try food in Bali.
Ubud Royal Palace After lunch, we toured the historic Ubud Royal Palace. The palace’s architecture is distinctly Balinese, with intricate carvings and elaborate decorations that leave you in awe, offering a deep sense of the local traditional culture and history.

Heading to Canggu After wrapping up our day in Ubud, we set off for Canggu, ready to begin the next few days of relaxation.
Day 4 (Chill Day in Canggu):
The Avocado Factory – Healthy & Delicious Breakfast We kicked off the day at The Avocado Factory, a breakfast spot focused on healthy eats. We ordered avocado-based dishes, from avocado toast to a fresh salad—everything was incredibly tasty and energizing, perfect for a sunny morning.
Gigi Susu – Trendy Coffee & Bakery Next, we hit up the trendy café Gigi Susu, famous for its specialty bread and coffee. The stylish interior made for great photo ops, and the smooth, aromatic coffee paired perfectly with freshly baked local bread—a real treat.

Exploring Tanah Lot Temple In the afternoon, we visited one of Bali’s landmarks—Tanah Lot Temple. Perched on the coast, this temple looks like it’s floating on the sea, offering breathtaking views and a sacred atmosphere that inspires awe. It’s also a prime spot for sunset watching, an absolute must-see in Bali.

The Lawn Canggu Beach Club Our last stop of the day was The Lawn, a popular beach club in Canggu. With sun, sand, great food, and a lively crowd, we spent a laid-back afternoon lounging in the pool, sipping chilled cocktails, and waiting for Bali’s famous sunset. As night fell, the beach lit up with a cozy, romantic vibe, letting us fully unwind and soak in every moment of vacation.

Day 5 (Heading Home!):
Shopping at Canggu Love Anchor We started the day at Love Anchor Market, a beloved spot in Canggu. It’s packed with all kinds of accessories and souvenirs—handicrafts, clothing, and trinkets full of Balinese charm. Don’t forget to haggle; prices are flexible, and we managed to cut many items in half—a real steal!
Back to the Villa for Final Relaxation After shopping, we returned to the villa to savor the last few hours of leisure. The villa’s serene and cozy atmosphere, with a dip in the pool under the warm sun, let us fully relax and wrap up this wonderful Bali trip on a perfect note.
Heading to the airport, ready to catch the 16:30 flight After leaving the villa, we arrived at the airport three hours early—a good habit for travel, especially at international airports, where arriving early helps avoid the rush caused by paperwork or unexpected situations. With all documents ready, we waited calmly for boarding.
❤️ Reflections:
- Make sure to prepare your clearance documents in advance! During this trip, I noticed many travelers handling their paperwork only upon arrival, leading to long queues and chaos. So be sure to prepare health certificates, e-visas, customs declaration forms, and other documents in advance for a smoother and faster entry.
- Bali has many attractions, but traffic is heavy—don’t overpack your itinerary! Bali’s attractions are incredibly diverse, but traffic is also intense, especially during peak hours. It’s best not to cram your schedule too tightly to avoid wasting time on the road. The best experience here is simply to chill and soak in the local pace of life.
- Remember to haggle at market stalls! When shopping at markets, always bargain! For example, I bought a coin purse at Love Anchor, haggling the price from the original 320,000 IDR down to 140,000 IDR, and at another stall, I even got it down to 100,000 IDR. So there’s definitely room to negotiate—don’t be shy, just go for it! 😅
- With limited English and being three months pregnant, I was grateful for a local who spoke Chinese During this trip, though I was three months pregnant and worried about my English skills, I was lucky to meet a local driver named Kang Ge (Wayan Suantara) who speaks Chinese. His thoughtful help made the entire journey so reassuring, especially with route planning and attraction recommendations—he offered plenty of practical advice.
- Souvenir recommendation: BALI BANANA banana cake Before heading home, don’t forget to grab a box of BALI BANANA banana cake. It’s a signature Bali souvenir—soft, sweet, and delicious—and it’s available at the airport. You can buy one to try upon arrival, and if you like it, pick up more to take back. They also offer free packing service, making shopping even more convenient.
