During this Bali trip with seniors, we focused on mountain landscapes and local culture, spending most of our time in the Ubud area. Towards the end of the trip, we gradually moved closer to the airport, choosing to relax at a hotel near the southern beaches. The itinerary included several must-visit spots, with careful planning to ensure seniors had relaxing activities and sufficient rest.

【Bali Entry Preparation】

The entry process for Bali can be prepared in advance. There are many online guides for the application process. Below, I’ve summarized the steps after arrival for your reference:

First Step: Health QR Code Scan

Second Step: Apply for Visa in Advance to Avoid On-Site Queues

  • Applying for a tourist visa in advance eliminates the need for on-site queuing: Visa Application
  • You can also apply for the traveler responsibility declaration here: Love Bali

Third Step: Departure QR Code Customs Declaration

With these preparations in advance, the entry process to Bali will become smoother, saving time on filling out forms and queuing on the spot. If you’re still unclear about the process, you can refer to the detailed explanation here. Now, the first and third steps have been merged: “【2026 Edition】Using the ‘All Indonesia’ Entry Card for Bali, Indonesia|Understand the Latest Process in 1 Minute: From Landing → Customs → Baggage Claim Full Guide

【Communication Tips for Private Car and Itinerary Arrangement】

The arrangement process for this private car service mainly involved initial communication with the driver in English via LINE. As the departure time approached, we also invited a Chinese-speaking guide, Ani, to assist with our itinerary. It is recommended to provide the following information when discussing with the private car driver to facilitate better arrangements:

  1. Basic Information
    • Number of Days, Hotel Location, Flight Information, and Number of Travelers, etc., to help the driver plan the route and arrange pickups.
  2. Itinerary Discussion Mode
    • Preliminary Planning: This is the method I used. First, I checked the popular travel directions for Bali within the community, drafted a general travel framework, and booked hotels separately. Then, I provided the accommodation information and preliminary itinerary plan to the driver for confirmation and quotation.
    • Fully Entrusted to the Guide: Suitable for those without specific plans, just provide number of travel days, preferences, and member characteristics, such as the age group of participants, and the guide can make arrangements based on the needs.
  3. Travel Preferences
    • Age Group of Companions: Different combinations of family, elders, or friends will affect travel preferences, which can be communicated to the driver and guide in advance.
    • Special Itinerary Needs: Such as mountain activities (like relaxation, hiking, sunrise volcano tours) or sea activities (like snorkeling, diving, river rafting, etc.), this information helps the guide add suitable experiences to the itinerary.
    • Restaurant Needs: If you have specific dining preferences (like wanting to try local cuisine or specialty restaurants), inform the guide in advance so they can recommend suitable restaurants along the way.
  4. Language Choice Our private car driver mainly provides services in English. If you are confident in English communication, there is no need to hire a Chinese-speaking guide. I myself had relaxed itineraries on the first and last days of the trip, so the private car driver was sufficient; for the middle days with longer distances, I hired Chinese-speaking guide Ani to accompany us throughout. Pre-trip communication can also be assisted flexibly with ChatGPT or Google Translate to ensure both parties clearly understand each other’s needs.

Through such preparation and communication methods, private car travel will be smoother and better aligned with travel needs, delivering a satisfying Bali experience.

This journey encapsulates the essence of nature, beauty, and culture, catering to various needs whether it’s relaxation, photography, or experiencing local life.

This is my first time writing a recommendation, especially for friends traveling to Southeast Asian islands for the first time, particularly those who wish to avoid the hassle of detailed itinerary planning. The local drivers and guides in Bali were incredibly helpful, making the entire trip smooth and enjoyable. Here are some of my suggestions and insights:

  1. SIM Card and Currency Exchange Needs
If you need a local SIM card or currency exchange, you can always inform your driver or guide. I had already taken care of these details in Taiwan, so I started my itinerary immediately upon arrival.
  2. Itinerary Planning Tips
Some locations in Bali are quite far apart, so it’s advisable to prioritize your accommodation location when planning your itinerary to avoid multiple trips back and forth. Pairing your itinerary with your accommodation can make your journey more relaxed and enjoyable.
  3. Activity Requests
If you have specific day trips or other activities you want to participate in, you can discuss them with your driver or guide. They will help arrange everything, allowing you to simply follow along without worrying about the details.
  4. Transparent Pricing
The cost of the private car for this trip was transparent and adjusted based on the daily distance, with a daily settlement. Tickets and additional day trip fees were calculated separately and communicated and confirmed before the trip.
  5. Thoughtful Companion: Chinese-Speaking Guide Ani
Ani accompanied us throughout the trip, introducing us to Bali’s culture, history, and customs. Her companionship was invaluable to me and my elders! Additionally, if we wanted to buy souvenirs, Ani would take us directly or purchase them based on the photos we provided. It’s recommended to inform her in advance so she can make proper arrangements.
  6. Thoughtful Communication and Photography
Ani and the driver not only assisted with photography throughout the trip but also helped communicate accommodation details with hotel reception, ensuring we didn’t have to worry about language barriers.
  7. Local Traffic and Driver Skills
Traffic in Bali can be congested, especially in the city, but the driver’s skills were very steady, making us feel safe even on mountain roads. We were fortunate to encounter almost no traffic jams during this trip.
  8. Family-Like Companionship
Throughout the journey, the care from the driver and guide felt like that of family or friends, making the trip smoother and bringing a sense of ease. I am grateful for their companionship and care during this journey.

【Journey Conclusion】

Finally, I highly recommend the professional private car team and guide we found through the Facebook group “Go Bali Go Bali Travel” in the “Recommended Bali Private Car Drivers List”, which made our first trip to Bali incredibly comfortable and worry-free.

Our seven-day, six-night trip allowed us to explore Bali with family in complete peace of mind. The private car service eliminated the hassle of handling luggage and ensured ample rest time for our elderly relatives. I wholeheartedly recommend Edi’s private car tour team and their professional Chinese-speaking guides. For first-time visitors to Bali, this arrangement offers both comfort and peace of mind, making traveling with elderly family members particularly enjoyable and stress-free. With dedicated transportation, moving luggage became much easier, and our elders could rest in the car whenever needed, making the entire journey smoother.
