Nusa Penida Accommodation Guide – Frequently Asked Questions
Before diving into where to stay on Nusa Penida, let’s answer some of the most common questions from first-time visitors:
Where is the Best Area to Stay on Nusa Penida?
The best area to stay on Nusa Penida is the west coast, home to Crystal Bay, Kelingking Beach, and Angel’s Billabong.
Beyond its stunning beaches and breathtaking resorts, you’ll find plenty of cafes and restaurants to easily while away the time. Plus, the island’s most beautiful sunset spots are also located in this area.
Is Nusa Penida Suitable for Families?
Overall, Nusa Penida is a fantastic destination for families, with plenty of family-friendly resorts to choose from. The island boasts many beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, and friendly locals.
Plus, you can easily get around your neighborhood by scooter or on foot.
Is It Worth Staying Overnight on Nusa Penida?
A trip to Nusa Penida is absolutely worth it, and I highly recommend staying for one or two nights rather than just taking a day trip. This gives you more time to deeply experience this enchanting island—not just skimming the surface, but truly soaking in its raw and majestic beauty.
While a day trip is certainly convenient for hitting the most popular spots quickly, spending a night offers you greater freedom to slowly explore less crowded hidden gems, and even catch the most ethereal views at sunrise or sunset. Another perk of staying overnight is that you can completely avoid the overwhelming day-trip crowds; many famous attractions feel entirely different in the early morning or late evening, when only a handful of travelers remain.
So, if your schedule allows, give yourself a little extra time to fully experience the unique charm of Nusa Penida.
Where Is the Nightlife on Nusa Penida?
The best nightlife on Nusa Penida is in the north, where you’ll find several beautiful cocktail bars offering happy hour specials.
The evenings on Nusa Penida aren’t as lively as in Bali, but you can still find some bars to enjoy a cocktail and soak up the night.
For example, I recommend Penida Colada Beach Bar, where the friendly staff and delicious food keep it open until 11 PM.
Is accommodation expensive on Nusa Penida?
Nusa Penida is slightly pricier than Bali, but you can still find reasonably priced lodging and eat cheaply at local restaurants. You can find hotels for around $50 per night and dine at local eateries for no more than $5 to $10 per person.

Which is better: East Nusa Penida or West Nusa Penida?
Overall, the most popular spots are concentrated on the west coast, as it boasts the island’s main tourist attractions.
However, the east side is also beautiful and less crowded, making it a great choice too.
Best places to stay on Nusa Penida
There’s no single best area to stay on Nusa Penida—you should base your choice on the attractions you want to visit and set up your accommodation in that region.
That said, Nusa Penida is a relatively small island, and you can drive from one end to the other in just an hour, so no matter where you stay, you’ll have the chance to explore all the sights.
